Weather Permitting. The Grounds keeping Committee would like to invite anyone interested in joining their committee to come to the “unofficial meeting” on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 1 pm at the NAIA Office, 230 Spence Lane, Nashville TN 37210. The group will be going to the gravesite. Please RSVP.

Note, this committee is dedicated to making NAIA grounds look beautiful.

NAIA Board of Directors Orientation and Training

The Native American Indian Association will be hold an orientation and training for all elected Board of Director members to be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the NAIA Office.  This will meeting will begin promptly at 10 am.

There is not much time to do all the things necessary for this year.  So training and orientation must commence as soon as possible to allow for planning and implementation for the year’s activities.

We need everyone to bring their monthly reports and any special reports they have prepared to the next NAIA Board meeting and 2017 Election.

We plan to meet on-site at the Long Hunter State Park, 2910 Hobson Pike, Hermitage TN, on Saturday morning at 10 am to discuss the New Year Events and perform the 2017 Election.

Please be prepared to begin at 10:00 am. You are welcome to bring snacks, dessert and/or side dish.  We will be providing stew and frybread.

NAIA Bi-Monthly Board Meeting / Election will be on January 14, 2017 at 10 am to 2 pm (?).

BOARD OF DIRECTOR NOMINEES (Letter of Intent DEADLINE December 15, 2016):

This will be a very important meeting as we will be selecting new board members (1 year term) and Executive Officers: President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary (three year term).  You will be able to meet the candidates and hear what they plan for NAIA.

If you are interested and we welcome you to apply.  This is your opportunity to contribute to NAIA in ways that could resonate positively for Native American Indians in Tennessee.  You must be forward thinking, able to commit to building a strong sustainable future while recognizing the cultural contributions Native American Indians have brought to Tennessee.  Yes, there will be lots of work involved but you will have the chance to build NAIA into an organization that will not only meet the needs of Native American Indians living in Tennessee but will create a pathway for our future generations.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR BOARD MEMBERS:

  • MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE.
  • MUST BE A LEGAL RESIDENT OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE.
  • MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE ORGANIZATION IN GOOD STANDING AND AN ACTIVE MEMBER FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR PRECEDING THE TERM BEING APPLIED FOR.
  • MUST HAVE A CURRENT MEMBERSHIP CARD.  ALL DUES MUST BE PAID.
  • MUST SUBMIT A LETTER OF INTENT BY DECEMBER 15.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION FOR EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS:

The Executive Officers must be Native American Indian as defined by our bylaws.  Executive Officers include and are limited to the office of the President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.
